JCC Maccabi Games

The mission of the JCC Maccabi Games states that the program is a Jewish event for Jewish teenagers with the intent to foster long-lasting memories and identification with organized Jewish community groups as well as identification with Israel. The JCC Maccabi Games aim to foster a strong Jewish identity among all of its participants.

To participate in the Games, athletes must be at least 13 years old and CANNOT have turned 17 years old as of July 31 the year of the Games. All athletes must be Jewish, which is defined as follows: One of the athlete's parents is Jewish and the athlete is being raised Jewish, or is a Jew by choice and is being raised Jewish. In the spirit of the Games, if the parent or child does not believe that they are Jewish on a year round basis, then the child should not participate in the JCC Maccabi Games.

Maccabi Canada

Mission Statement

Maccabi Canada is a national, non-profit, athletic organization and a constituent member of the Maccabi World Union. Our mission is the promotion of Jewish identity and traditions through athletic, cultural, social and educational activities for both youth and adults alike and to promote a bond with the State of Israel, both domestically and abroad.

Our main goal at Maccabi Canada is to bring as many young Jews as possible to Israel so that we can expose them to their religion, their traditions, and most of all, give them an "Israel Experience!"

Maccabi Canada's mandate includes the following:
  • To help identify and cultivate young Jewish athletes from all over Canada.
  • To run programs which educate our young about sport, Jewish culture, and Israel.
  • To select and prepare a National Team to compete at the Maccabiah Games which are held every four years in Israel.
  • To select and prepare a National Team to compete at the Pan-American Maccabi Games which are held every four years in various South American cities.
  • To support the JCC Maccabi Games held every year in various cities across Canada and the United States.

Maccabi World Union

Maccabi is a global Jewish organization spanning five continents, more then 50 countries and boasting some 400,000 members. Many Maccabi clubs serve as community centers, providing a diversity of educational, cultural, social and sports activities under one roof.

Maccabi World Union comprises 6 confederations: Maccabi Israel, European Maccabi confederation, confederation Maccabi North America, confederation Maccabi Latin America (CLAM), Maccabi South Africa and Maccabi Australia (APA).
