ABOUT Maccabi Toronto
Since 1980, Maccabi Toronto has been representing the Jewish community at its highest level of team sports in the GTA, Canada and arguably, outside Israel. We carry the torch from the previous Jewish Toronto soccer club Hakoah, a fixture at the top of senior amateur sports from the 1950’s into the late 1970’s. Maccabi Toronto’s first coach was Leon Levy, goalie from the Hakoah team.
The GTA is a microcosm of the world with over 100 languages and dialects spoken. It’s only to be expected that our soccer team also is comprised of Jews from across the globe with 25 countries, and counting.
